Have you tried Fuji films crop sensor cameras? I’m never going to say no to more smarts, but to be honest I usually get exactly the image I want out of these things. They’re small. A joy to use with physical dials for everything. The film simulations are actually good. And they’re popular, some of the prices can get close to a full frame camera, but as far as I know they’re still flying off the shelves.
