What would a clam social media look like? Is the anger we see directed at common apps actual product feedback? Maybe instead of getting defensive and some of these companies telling us why we’re wrong about social media, they should view this as getting some of the best user feedback and market signals they could ask for.

I pretty often find myself in the middle of work and all of a sudden getting several messages. I’d love a fast way to force push those notifications away and enable DnD for an hour. As an engineer, I can choose my editor. Everyone on the team can be using different ones. Many use vscode, or maybe atom, or Nova. Some of the fastest most insane engineers I know still use vim and swear by it’s ability to move at the speed of your mind if you spend the time to learn it. As a designer, I cannot. In order to collaborate, we must all be using the same one. What market forces would created the open formats required for this to happen? Likely none will ever exist. For both the file format and the collaboration side.

It’s a little wild to me that the M1 Macbook Air’s have longer battery life then the heavier(!) iPad with a smart keyboard. In theory the iPad is even using less power. I should say, I love the keyboard and it’s great for me to travel around using only my iPad and equally be able to take notes or write out long emails, then immediately dive into reading or something else better suited for a tablet. It’s amazing what’s the designers and engineers at Apple have done with the iPad so far.
